Came here on a Saturday morning. It was rather quiet but the staff was chirpy and the music was playing. Love the Irish pub decor. Had a spicy Bloody Mary and an omelette and could not have left happier. Really well located for a short stroll too. Highlight of our Battle Creek visit really!

The Griffin is a great little pub in downtown Battle Creek. It's a good after work hang-out with dart boards, food, and beer. There are a good selection of Ales, and your usual American domestics. The menu is pretty good, but they could use some vegetation options for healthier eating. The corned beef is always good, and so are the chicken wings. The menu is several pages traditional pub food. If you are in downtown Battle Creek, be sure to check this place out. Good food and good times.

An English pub style restaurant, with lots of beer on tap. The atmosphere is cozy and one of the best places to eat in downtown Battle Creek. Their sandwiches are creative, and they have a variety of burgers and their fries are excellent. A great place to have lunch, or dinner.

This place is great. I went here twice for after-dinner drinks and once for lunch. It's not too busy and has great, reliable service. I had the club sandwich for lunch which was fantastic. Good prices, good food.

The "Griffin" (as known by the locals) is a centrally located bar/pub in downtown Battle Creek. It's a huge place with good customer service and is very lively at night. Though it's not my cup of tea in terms of nightlife. Lunch is good, but I think the menu could feature better, more healthier options. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Philly Sandwich and fries - super good, but again, I was having a bad day and needed greasy, comfort food. All in all, not a bad place to visit if you're from out of town.

Totally adorable traditional looking Irish Pub. My husband and I stopped here for a few beers and a game of darts. We did not eat although the menu looks pretty tasty. They had a ton of beer on tap and the bartender invited us to look around at all the taps before deciding. I wasn't sure if I would like a particular beer and he gave me a sample before I ordered a whole glass. The dart board is not electronic and there is a chalk board right next to it to keep score. It was free too! The price of beer was pretty decent. I think we each had 2 beers in the larger size and paid about 24 bucks total. The bartender was extremely friendly and they had a good music selection. I think I saw a jukebox too. The clientele ranged from young 20 somethings to families with kids, to the older crowd. Very casual atmosphere.

PROS: Definitely the best place in downtown Battle Creek. Good food, cheap good drinks. You will not get a place with this combo in Philly.

The Griffin is a very nice "local watering hole". They have 36 beers on tap plus more in bottles (Arrogant Bastard rocks!). I had the tasty ostrich burger. In general, though, they have an English pub style menu along with American favorites like Reuben's and such.

Service is pretty quick and they serve a lot of burger variations. I usually get the burger with olives and pepper jack cheese, with a cup of soup on the side. Lots of beers, and not just the typical ones that you see on tap. They have a pretty good selection of belgian beers as well. Beware: this place gets very smoky.

Not many healthy options on the menu, but very tasty BBQ sliders and corned beef and cabbage. Also, many screens for watching football. You will see signs on the tables urging you to try Conkey's Tavern Ale -- do it!

It's a great bar. Great bar food, great drinks. Love the atmosphere. I love that you and friends can go, hang out, talk with other people, and not have to worry about being around pretentious people. Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend!

My husband and I went there last night. This was our second time going and they have pretty good bar food. However, last night we saw a cockroach climbing on the wall next to our table. Unfortunately we had already eaten. I don't think we'll be going back any time soon.

Staff is very friendly. Food is much better than bar food. It is a true pub. Massive beer and drink selection. I have been here a couple times and it is always a good experience. Lots of tv's to watch.

Ok, so this is one of our local "pubs". I eat here every now and then, but just recently thought enough to yelp about it. This is a good place to go for a pub burger and a beer. They have you usual burger options and the beer menu is huge. This time I met a buddy from outta town for lunch. I wanted to order something outside of my "pub burger box", so I went for the lunch special fish tacos. I got two small greasy fried corn taco shells with what looked like a chopped up fish stick on each one. They threw on a few basic toppings and a side of cold fries. My buddy's burger was about as usual but his fries were cold too. We had waters instead of beers cause he going back on the clock. If we had beers in us maybe the food would have tasted better. Lunch specials with waters and a tip ran each of us about $10. Fair enough. Wait staff was pretty standard. Nothing special. I three starred this place on just over all food and dining experience. Maybe a four star if you just sit down for a quick bite, then leave. If you want a burger and beer, this is a good place to stop. Anything else, keep driving.

Service was pretty good. Reasonably clean. Spicy cheese appetizer was not great. Ask for pretzels and peanuts from the bar instead (for free). Baja shrimp tacos were good, not stellar. Buffalo chicken wrap was man-sized and pretty good. Ask for extra buffalo sauce.

Ok, stopped in on the way through, had the veggie patty burger rodeo style with no bacon. The pretzel bun was very good. Tasty pickle. The crinkle cut fries were not that good. Ice tea was ok. First time in battle creek, beautiful downtown. Parking was super easy, free two hour parks. Pretty quick service, staff friendly.

Home run for yelp again! Their beer selection is AWSOME! Read on yelp about taco night on Mondays. Bartender said they are known for fish and chips but it is Monday night. I must agree the tacos are AWSOME. First round had one of each beef, chicken, and fish. They all were great! However,The fish and chicken peaked my interest tonight and satisfied my need to feed! For it being a cold winter night this place is warm and toasty, have not noticed the door opening and closing from patrons coming and going. The ambiance is well, they are Michigan State fans and as I am from Indiana and in Michigan I cannot fault them for that. I defiantly recommend this. There are plenty of TV's to be seen from almost every angle. Not sure how long it is good for, but Monday's night is also $1.00 off all beers. Just had 2 beers ( some kind of vanilla porter) and 7 tacos for $13.25 it just doesn't get much better! So I raised it to 5 stars AWSOME value. By the way rest of menue looks delicious too and reasonably priced.

Stopped in after a day at Fort Custer biking & beach. Service was quick and very casual. Food and drinks came out quick. Food was okay but nothing exceptional. Was very surprised at how quiet Battle Creek was on a summer Saturday night.

This place is great. The service was extremely good. For breakfast the pancakes were tasty. For dinner the Michigan Ave Club was a large and tasty sandwich

Horrible horribly slow service tonight. Party of 12 for happy hour. Was there for two drinks from 500 to 630. Only had two because service was soo slow so we left. Ordered the second drink around 530, since they didn't serve them until after 615 they charged us full price. Really???

The best French fries in town and the shrimp tacos are to die for! Great place to eat and enjoy a beer. Had an awesome waitress, Paige, who made us the best dessert!

I walked to Griffin from my hotel one day to pick up a buffalo chicken wrap. I ordered it with a few modifications and they made it exactly how I ordered. It was delicious. I'll be back!

Imagine "Cheers" with a grill. This nice Irish pub offers a wide variety of beers and ales and a large menu. The staff is unfailingly friendly and the atmosphere is suitable Irish.

I've been here twice, as it's in my neighborhood for both work and home. The first time we were there with my husband and children. Very disappointed in the food. Nothing is homemade and they're clearly shooting for the biggest profit margin possible--everything looked and tasted like it came from the bargain basement of the food service supply store. Indifferent, slow service--we had to ask for drink refills several times before we got them, and I never got the to-go cup I asked for. The second time, I got takeout to take back to my office during a big project. The fried items were still cold in the middle, the sandwich was acceptable, though they'd left off items I'd asked for extra of, and worst of all, the side salad I ordered was inedibly brown and wilted. I saved it, took it back to the restaurant after work, and got my money back from, again, an indifferent server who tossed it in the trash, said "Sorry," and walked away. There are plenty of good restaurants in downtown Battle Creek. I recommend Pastrami Joe's for lunch and Arcadia Brewing Company for any meal you happen to be around for. Clara's on the River is also more than acceptable, and both the atmosphere and parking are preferable to the Griffin. It's fine if you're just looking for a drink after work, but plan on eating elsewhere.

This was a really cute spur of the moment surprise for dinner in Battle Creek. It definitely has a pub vibe, but I was really surprised by the food. I ordered the Chipotle steak bites appetizer for my entree, and it was delicious! It was like a dissected steak burger, and the quality of the steak absolutely exceeded my expectations! It had just enough spice for my weak tastebuds.

Fish tacos on Monday. Be there. Thursday night, half-off priced appetizers ain't bad, either. Lots of beer on draft. Good bar food and awesome staff. Splendid patio when weather permits.

I would recommend The Griffin because it is probably One of Two downtown restaurants with both a full Kitchen and full Bar. The other place is way over priced. These prices are very reasonable but food is below average, mostly frozen items.

I really enjoyed this place. We were in town on business for the week and ate here twice. Staff is great, food was good and then beer was awesome. Watched the baseball playoffs and Thursday football. Fun place to hang out.

So last night we visited Griffin Grill & Pub. We read the reviews on here and since they were good we decided to give them a try and choose them over Arcadia. The food was really good and the service was great. The only complaint was that our server was really busy so we waited a bit longer for a second beer and for our check. Another server walked by, asked us if everything was ok and if my husband wanted another beer. He told her our server was taking care of it but she took the time to go get that beer and deliver to our table; for us that is the true sign of someone who cares about their job and doing the best job for their employer! We loved our server and her attitude was super friendly and always smiling. I had the California Reuben which was really good and my husband enjoyed the Shepard's Pie. We'll definitely go back!
